Hypercity: Retail outlet In large format


Hypercity is one of the retail chain of K Raheja group. K Raheja group has diverse range of businesses comprises Real estate, Hospitality, Retail chain. this group has retail like Shoppers shop, Crossword and others. It has been established in 2006. this store will give International touch to Indian consumers because area of store is 1,50,000 sq. feet. Shoppers stop entered furnishing business through Home stop and retailing through Hypercity. this concept of retail format of Hypercity is designed by UK's leading retailer Argos. On 25 march when they opened in Bangalore I visited store along with my friends. According to our observation layout is very big so, confidently I can say they will give International experience of shopping. According to our observation being a retailer in India it is very big and consumers will face difficulties,when they will go for Impulse purchase and any other small items. Till now they are seven (Mumbai-2, Thane-1, Jaipur-1,Amritsar-1, Hyderabad-1 Bangalore-1) in numbers. this world class retail format has designed by Hypercity partner JMP, JDA and johnson diversey. In store you can find ATM facility, they have specialty areas for different items, Demo rooms for kitchen items, Home theater for music systems and 30 cash counters excluding vegetables and fruits. Apart from that they has exclusive areas for International brand called "WAITROSE". For customer loyalty they has club called "Discovery Club" and pharmacy facilities. This facilities will sure differntiate Hypercity from any other retailers in India. As other retailers they also has 15 brand of private label these are followings-
Food segments- Terzo, Fresh Basket, Hypercity and Waitrose
Home segments- Every day, Ebano and Avorio
Fashion segments- City life, City style, City sense,Joojoobs and River inc.
Sports segments- Raleigh and Maxit
Appliance segments- Technix.

My analysis says how Indian consumer perceive this format of retail, they can face difficulties in walk in store. Other side I will say Wal-mart can get benefits of this because they can now judge the mind of India consumers in terms of big format of retail stores. Hypercity might be thinking about entry of wal-mart. lets see how far it works.
